We are Canadian through and through. At Red White and New(born) Baby Wear Ltd. we believe in supporting the Canadian economy. To this end, we purchase our fabric from a Canadian source. We also use a Canadian manufacturer. As a business owner and a consumer I am concerned where the products are made and the conditions of the workers. I am able to check in person with my manufacturer and have great working relationship with them. So yes we do cost a little more than some of our competition but your money and our money is staying here. You also have the benefit of not having to learn how to tie the sling. I always ask people if they are really going to take the time to learn to tie the sling or is it going to be a purchase of good intentions that ends up not being used because the wearer has given up on getting the tying just right.
Oh by the way, we support baby wearing as well. Of course I will tell you about the benefits of baby wearing and the differences of a Blue Celery Sling vs a traditional wrap and what makes us better (in my opinion and the opinion of others just check out the testimonials). If I didn't do that I wouldn't be doing my job. If you are already wearing your baby with a different product and are in love with it then I am just as happy. You are wearing your baby and for us that is more important then how you do it. If you were every to meet me and said I have another wrap that I don't use simply because I can't tie it. I would be more than happy to help you learn to tie your wrap. I wore my babies before I bought the company and used many of competitions slings and wraps. I just loved my Blue Celery Sling so much that I bought the company!
The Original Blue CeleryTM baby sling/wrap was created in 2004 by an Ottawacouple with the birth of her daughter. The Blue CeleryTM baby sling/wrap allowed them to be the nurturing, empathetic parents they wanted to be to their high needs baby girl. Their daughter needed to be snuggled day and night to remain happy and the Blue CeleryTM design made this possible without the complicated tying required of some slings/wraps.
Everywhere they went, moms would ask them about the sling/wrap, comment on how easy it was to use, and ask where they could get one too. They went on to create the Blue CeleryTM company and producing the sling/wrap for sale.
Fast forward to summer 2010....Blue CeleryTM is for sale!!
October 2010 Blue CeleryTM was sold to a stay at home mom, Katrina. She had been looking at a way to go back to work or run a home based business while still looking after their 2 young children. Top this off with being married to a military man and a chance of moving every few years, a business that could go with her seemed to be something to look into........this fit just right! Being a military family we have just moved, our Customer and Technical support (OK my desktop and phone) are now in Belgium. Rest assured our product is still made, distributed and headquartered in Canada, we will be back in 4 years.
Katrina was the owner of a Blue CeleryTM sling/wrap before buying the company. She and her husband have both used other wraps and slings but agreed that the Blue CeleryTM sling/wrap is the easiest to put on and use while still offering the benifits of feeling that the baby is secure while wearing them.
The rest is history! Ever since, Blue CeleryTM has been bringing helpful, beautiful, Canadian-made products to moms and caregivers across Canada and around the world. We hope you enjoy!
